The immediate past former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila has resigned his membership of the 10th House.
His letter of resignation was read by the Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas, at Wednesday’s plenary.
Gbajabiamila said his resignation is to enable him assume the role of Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu.
Concerns had emerged as to how he was going to manage both offices given that the former Speaker had been inaugurated alongside his colleagues on Tuesday and had voted as well for the leadership of the House.
However, Gbajabiamila, who represented Surulere Fedral Conatituncy I has now tendered his resignation and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will conduct a by-election to fill vacancy.
