Reeling from the recent explosion that impacted a part of the community, the Bodija Estate Residents Association (BERA) has launched the Know-Your-Neighbour (KYN) campaign.
BERA is the overall landlord association of the entire Bodija Estate, a section of which witnessed a bloody explosion on Tuesday, January, 16.
The association’s chairman, Pastor Muyiwa Bamgbose, disclosed this while speaking to Newspeakonline, on Friday.
The initiative, which is a sub-set of BERA’s Smart Bodija campaign will see every landlord give account of members of their households, which will be known to immediate neighbours in the community.
According to the chairman, estate agents will also make full disclosure about tenants in the properties they manage, to enable the community know who they are, what they do and other relevant information.
He revealed that the association developed a Google form for every building which will draw data that will be easily updated to reflect changes in household members.
Bamgbose, who lamented the tragedy that befell the community, said that it beat the imagination of every resident. He deplored the collosal loss suffered by residents and business owners in the community.
The BERA chairman said the project was launched on Wednesday, adding that sub-associations in the expansive estate embraced it with enthusiasm.
“Everybody was happy. We discovered that some associations have record while others do not have. So we have different levels of organisation in BERA. The beauty of this is that it is digital. This makes it easy to update and check from anywhere in the world,” he said.
Bamgbose promised that Smart Bodija would help the expansive estate recover its original status of safety, peace and prosperity. The explosion, which claimed five lives and injured 77 persons, also affected 58 buildings, according to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
