Liverpool FC has signed Brighton & Hove Albion’s midfielder, Alexis MacAllister on a long-term deal for an undisclosed fee.
The 24-year-old has successfully completed a medical and agreed personal terms to become the Reds’ first signing of the summer window.
MacAllister arrived at Anfield, less than six months after helping Argentina win the World Cup in Qatar last December, capping a highly impressive season with Brighton.
Speaking, MacAllister said: “It feels amazing. It’s a dream come true, it’s amazing to be here and I can’t wait to get started.
“I wanted to be in [from] the first day of pre-season, so it’s good that everything is done. I’m looking forward to meeting my teammates.
“It was a fantastic year for me – World Cup, what we achieved with Brighton – but now it’s time to think about Liverpool and try to be a better player and a better human being every day.”
MacAllister’s move to Anfield comes after successful three-and-a-half seasons at Brighton, following a January 2019 switch from Argentino’s Juniors, where he immediately returned on loan for six months. It was followed by a temporary stint at Boca Juniors in Argentina.
His Premier League debut came in March 2020, and he went on to make a total of 112 appearances for the south coast club, 98 of which came in the Premier League. He played against Liverpool as an opponent on six occasions.
MacAllister also netted 20 times overall for Brighton and claimed nine assists.
