The Chief Executive Officer and Postmaster General of the Federation, Mrs Tola Odeyemi, on Monday, assumed duty at the corporate headquarters of the agency, with a pledge to build on the legacy of her predecessors.
Speaking, Odeyemi promised to advance the postal organisation into its rightful position, both locally and globally, by leveraging on technology to make NIPOST logistics, e-Commerce, and other postal services reliable, efficient, and effective.
She said the essence of every administration is to ensure continuity, while staying focused to NIPOST’s core values and mandate.
‘’NIPOST has a legacy that was forged by hard work, vision of those before me, and posterity will be indeed kind to them.
‘’As I assume this role, I came to build on the commendable work of my predecessors; my aspirations are not only to solidify NIPOST status as one of the leading postal operators in the world, but to critically build trade and make NIPOST the e- commerce and logistics hub in the world by providing postal services that meet the needs of Nigerians ,irrespective of the location,” she said.
The Postmaster General expressed her profound gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, for entrusting her with the position and a national assignment that she holds dear to her heart.
Odeyemi is an experienced and seasoned professional engineer, with over 15 years experience spanning both public and private sector in Tech Policy and Government Regulatory roles. She has worked at senior level with both the state and federal governments and brings decades of experience in the field of strategy development and implementation into the position.
Her appointment is to lead NIPOST into a new era of innovation, modernisation and transformation, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Tinubu.
As the first female to hold the position of Postmaster General of the Federation, her appointment is a testament to the strides Nigeria is making to close the gender and age gap in governance.
Odeyemi promised to consolidate on what she meets on ground and promise to even do better with the cooperation of the staff members.
