Ahead of its forthcoming state congress, scheduled for Saturday, October 16, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has zoned the chairmanship position to Oke Ogun zone.
Arising from a stakeholders meeting on Wednesday, the leaders of the party agreed on a new zoning template that will produce new state executives.
Recall that Oyo APC Stakeholders had during a meeting on Monday, October 11, 2021, mandated former Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala; outgoing state chairman of the party, Chief Akin Oke and seven zonal leaders of the party to meet, work out modalities and produce a final document that would accommodate all interests during the state congress of the party.
A communique issued at the end of the meeting held at the Ibadan residence of Alao-Akala, on Wednesday, said that the leaders resolved that it was expedient for all gladiators and party faithful to go into the state congress as a united and formidable team of democrats to enable Oyo APC win the 2023 general election.
According to the communique, Oke Ogun 1 will produce State Chairman, Senatorial Youth Leader, Assistant Financial Secretary and Assistant Welfare Officer while Oke Ogun 2 will produce State Organising Secretary, State Legal Adviser, Deputy Youth Leader (North), Senatorial Women Leader, Deputy State Women Leader and ex Officio.
Ogbomoso zone will produce State Youth Leader, State Financial Secretary, Senatorial Chairman, State Assistant Auditor, Senatorial Women Leader and Ex Officio.
The party leaders zoned State Secretary, State Auditor, Assistant Organising Secretary and Assistant State PRO to Oyo zone while Deputy State Chairman, State Welfare Officer, Senatorial Youth Leader (South) and Assistant Treasurer will go to Ibarapa zone.
Ibadan city will produce State Women Leader, Deputy Secretary, Physically Challenged, Senatorial Chairman, Senatorial Women Leader and Ex Officio. Ibadan less city will produce Publicity Secretary,Treasurer, Oyo Central Senatorial Chairman, Assistant Legal Adviser, Senatorial Youth Leader and ex Officio.
The leaders also said that all elective positions in 2023, especially that of governor, deputy governor and senators are open to all the 33 local government areas in the state.
The party leaders at the meeting include outgoing caretaker chairman, Chief Akin Oke; former deputy governor of Oyo State, Chief Moses Adeyemo; Chief Samuel Adekola; C.A Ajibade; Alhaji Abu Gbadamos;, B.A Ajibade; former speaker and serving minority leader of Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Asimiyu Alarape; Chief Kunle Sanda; Chief Timothy Jolaoso and Mogaji Banji Olorode.
