The Executive Secretary, Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA), Dr Sola Akande, has revealed that the insurance scheme covers accident and emergency situations.
Akande stated this while featuring on Southwest Political Circuit, a popular programme on Fresh 105.9FM, Ibadan.
The OYSHIA boss, who specifically made reference to commercial motorcycle riders, said that accident can happen any time, noting that if they register under the scheme, it will go a long way because they will be able to access good medical services.
He explained that the scheme is very important, especially during this COVID-19 pandemic, saying: “Because if anybody falls sick, the scheme will give them access to health facility.”
He admonished everyone to take precaution against COVID-19, stressing that prevention is better than cure.
Akande urged organisations, religious bodies and schools to ensure that all their staff are registered under the insurance scheme, noting that health is wealth.
He added that interested persons can visit the OYSHIA registration centres at the State Secretariat, Agodi, and room 19, Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS).
According to him, registration can also be done at any of the general hospitals across the state, on the agency’s website and OPay app. He said they can also call
0903000530 and 08057000530 for registration and other enquiries
