The Executive Secretary, Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA), Dr Sola Akande, has disclosed that the agency would enroll 37,500 poor and vulnerable residents of the state in the insurance scheme within the next three months.
He said that the process would begin next week, noting that the agency has put together trained leaders in various wards including health educators, local mobilisers and Civil Society Organisations(CSOs) that will monitor and evaluate the process.
Akande emphasised that the programme is targeted towards indigent and elderly people in the society, adding that OYSHIA will make provision for their healthcare for one year.
The OYSHIA boss emphasized that the programme has come to stay because the state government was able to access funds on basic health care provision from the Federal Government having fulfilled some conditions.
