Photos of him on board an Emirates aircraft to India on Monday evening have surfaced online.
The Shiite leader was photographed wearing a nose mask in a first-class seat on a journey expected to last nine hours and 46 minutes.
The sheik and his wife departed Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, alongside some family members and security operatives.
Newspeakonline understands that in line with one of the conditions of the meeical leave granted by the court, officials of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and Department of State Services (DSS) are travelling with the IMN leader.
The court had ruled that El-Zakzaky, who had been in detention since 2015, must return after his discharge from the hospital to contine with his trial.
