The Oyo State chapter of a women empowerment group, No Woman No Nation, has described the victory of President Bola Tinubu at the Supreme Court as well deserved and the sanctity of the rule of law.
The Supreme Court, in a unanimous decision on Thursday, dismissed the petition filed by the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi and his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart, Atiku Abubakar, ruling that Tinubu was duly elected on February 25, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Reacting to the development in a statement made available to newsmen in Ibadan through the media office on Friday, Director of No Woman No Nation in Oyo State, Hon (Mrs) Abegbo Lawal, described the judgement as a reflection of the will of the people as expressed through the ballot box in the presidential election.
Lawal said the electorate had spoken through the ballots and the court has also validated the peoples’ decision by judicial pronouncements, which upheld the victory.
According to her, Nigerians believe in democratic governance as the best option of government were not in doubt as regards the mandate freely given to Tinubu to pilot the affairs of the nation based on his track records.
“The victory at the court is the beauty of democracy and the sanctity of the rule of law. I urge Nigerians to support and pray for President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima to succeed and work towards a united, peaceful, secured and prosperous Nigeria,” She said
