Youths under the aegis of Oodua Youth Coalition (OYC) have threatened to shut down MultiChoice offices across the country from Monday, May 15, over the companies proposed tariff hike.
A statement issued by the group’s Public Relations Officer, Opeoluwa Awoyinfa, said MultiChoice was extorting Nigerians and bringing hardship on the people.
According to Awoyinfa, the group has exhausted all avenue to engage the Pay TV company over the recent increment of its DSTV and GOTV subscription rates.
“We are taking the route of picketing their offices nationwide starting from Monday 15th of May. By this statement, we are directing our members to join us,” Awoyinfa said.
Recall that MultiChoice had in April announced new subscription rates for its DStv and GOtv packages.
The company in a text message sent to its customers said the upward review of DStv and GOtv packages was due to the rising costs of business operations.
Twenty four hours after the announcement, the South West zone of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) gave MultiChoice seven days to reverse the subscription rates.
