Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA) has disclosed that it has enrolled 21,670 people across the 33 local government areas in the state into the basic health care scheme.
The Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr Sola Akande, stated this while speaking on a radio programme.
He explained that “the basic health care provision scheme is for the vulnerable, the poor and people that don’t have the money to get health insurance.”
“The Oyo State Government and Federal Government have jointly put some resources together for them,” he added.
Akande said the basic health care provision form is still available, adding that those that have registered are presently collecting their identification card.
The Executive Secretary further explained that those that have registered will start accessing care from various primary health centers they were enrolled in by September.
He said 206 primary health centers have been renovated and equipped, adding that drugs are now available in all the health centers.
“PHCs are getting to the standard where they can deliver, and they can deliver about 80% on issues we will experience in our day-to-day activity. Basic health care provision has given opportunity to PHCs to have funds because capitation will be given to PHCs and people will begin to have access,” Akande said.
