Ahead of Saturday’s governorship and House of Assembly elections, Yoruba youths under the aegis of Agbarijo Egbe Odo Yoruba (Grand Council of Yoruba Youths) has commenced mass mobilisation across the South West states.
A statement by the by the President-General of the group, Comrade Awa Bamiji, said the youths are stepping up mobilisation to forestall a repeat of the results recorded in Lagos and Osun States in the February 25 presidential election.
“Our mobilisation efforts, which are always on silent mode, have now taken a new dimension.
“As progressive youths, we have the numerical strength and that is exactly what we are going to invoke on Saturday.
“Yoruba youths will come out in large numbers this coming Saturday to register our sharp displeasure over the presidential election results in both Lagos and Osun States, outcome of which we are still studying, gathering evidences carefully in serious preparation for the appropriate actions to be taken soon.
“All Progressives Congress (APC) won all the three senatorial seats and 20 out of 24 House of Representatives seats in Lagos State but the reverse was the case in Osun State,” he said.
Awa commended the mobilisation efforts of former Governors Babatunde Fashola (SAN), Akinwunmi Ambode and Rauf Aregbesola at ensuring that APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, emerged victorious in the February 25 presidential election.
“These selfless efforts are now being doubled towards next Saturday’s election. With this unity of purpose within the progressives camp, victory of silent majority is on the way again,” he said.
The youths condole with Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as well as families of those who lost their lives in the train accident at PWD, Ikeja, last Thursday.
“We are in full support of the ongoing investigation to unravel the mystery behind this unfortunate but avoidable incident, so as to forestall future occurrences,” Awa said.
The group also mourned the death of veteran Nollywood actor, Ojo Arowosafe, aka Fadeyi Oloro, who passed on last Tuesday at the age of 66.
They prayed that the Lord Almighty will give his family, friends and associates the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and grant his soul sweet repose.
