Former Director of Corporate Communications and Students’ Services of Lead City University, Dr. Ayobami Owolabi, has been appointed as deputy registrar of Corporate Communications and Students Services of the institution.
A statement signed by the deputy registrar said the appointment took effect from January 2, 2024.
Owolabi holds B.A (Hons) English, Ogun State University- 1991; Professional Certificate in Public Relations, NIPR – 1995; PGD in Marketing Management, Nigeria Institute of Journalism – 1996; Master in Communication Arts, University of Ibadan – 2003; Master in Peace & Conflict Studies, University of Ibadan – 2005; PhD in Integrated Marketing Communications, LCU – 2010.
A few of his professional qualifications and status include Fellow, Institute of Personality Development & Customer Relationship Management; Fellow, National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria; Fellow, Institute Corporate & Business Affairs; Fellow, Institute of Management Consultant of Nigeria; Fellow, Institute of Strategic Customer Service & Trade Management; Member, Nigeria Institute of Public Relations; Member, Nigeria Institute of Management, and a Registered Practitioner in Advertising.
A consummate Administrator and an accomplished PR practitioner cum Integrated Marketing Communications professional, Dr. Owolabi is the President of the prestigious Institute of Personality Development and Customer Relationship Management and also the current President of World Personality Development Council, North & Sub-Sahara Africa, with headquarters in Ontario, Canada.
A widely travelled conference and motivational speaker, Dr. Owolabi believes that a critical area for national youth orientation driven by ethical and value re-orientation, and which is capable of rejigging youth employability is the concept of mentorship. He regards mentoring “as the only short-cut to success.”
Over the years, Dr. Owolabi has engaged in strong relational and communication interfaces with youths and corporate leaders from different cultures and background, and have built a huge number of corporate and individual contacts who are always willing to partner with Lead City University for human capacity development and corporate sustainability.
Owolabi blazed the trail of management recognition and appropriate placement and professional recognition of Public Relations as a management function in the private university administration in Nigeria with his appointment as the pioneer Director of Corporate Affairs & Communications at the inception of Lead City University, Ibadan, in 2005. His experience spans over 25 years of sterling professional achievements in Strategic Planning and Development, Corporate Identity/Brand Management, Alliance Building and Community/Government Relations, Corporate Social Responsibility Management, Alumni/Student Affairs and Media Relations, Partnership and Collaboration, and overall management and implementation of the Integrated Marketing Communications efforts of Lead City University.
