Delta State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Monday Udoh-Tom, has confirmed that policemen at a checkpoint in Ukwuani Local Government Area shot dead an INEC staff and injured youth corps members who were travelling in a bus at the close of presidential election.
Udoh-Tom, who spoke with newsmen in Asaba, the state capital, said a commercial bus conveying election materials and INEC staff was shot at after the driver failed to stop at a police checkpoint.
He said the injured youth corps members are receiving medical treatment at an undisclosed location.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) collation officer in Sapele Local Government Area, Dr Laurelta Tudararo, said a Supervisory Presiding Officer was arrested for not making results sheets available in Ward 4 of the local government.
According to her, elections did not hold in one unit of Ward 11 because voters held INEC staff hostage.
She stressed that malfunctioning BVAS machine stopped election in Ward 6 and three units in Ward 10
