The Ibadan-based firm where 38 members of staff tested positive is a telecommunication outsourcing firm, Newspeakonline can confirm.

Another 19 members of staff of the same company tested positive on Monday after 38 did last week, bringing total number of COVID-19 positive staff to 57.

Though very close to Ibadan North West Local Government, the company, Newspeakonline can confirm, operates in a building located in Ibadan South West Local Government area of the state.

Owned by foreigners, the firm has in its employ over 2,000 staff running various shifts. The workers operate call centre for two major telecommunication companies in Ibadan.

Governor Seyi Makinde announced Monday evening: “The COVID-19 confirmation tests for nineteen suspected cases came back POSITIVE. All nineteen of these cases are from the same organisation referred to in the update of May 16 and 17, 2020. So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State is 137.

The governor is expected to unveil the full identity of the company today, Tuesday.
